Guarino took charge last December and focused on defensive organisation during her first months in charge. West Ham’s late surge secured a tenth-place finish, ten points clear of the relegation zone. Now, with nine new signings and a full eight-week pre-season, she aims to refine the team’s style.

Guarino wants West Ham to become more confident and effective in possession while keeping the defensive resilience that kept them safe last term. She told the club’s official website that the lack of immediate results pressure gives her more time to embed individual tactics and attacking principles.
Last season, West Ham were strong at the back and clinical in front. But Guarino believes they need to keep the ball for longer and offer more quality in attacking situations. The new arrivals are expected to help bridge that gap.
Who are West Ham’s nine summer signings?
Kelly Gago and Ebony Salmon join the attack, while Laia Codina, Nadine Riesen and Estelle Cascarino bolster the defence. Constance Picaud has arrived in goal, with Sienna Wareing and Niamh Peacock adding long-term potential. Katie Zelem and Cascarino have also converted successful loans into permanent moves.
France forward Kelly Gago became Guarino’s ninth signing after a three-year deal. The 25-year-old scored ten goals in 30 appearances for Everton last season. Guarino praised the welcoming atmosphere in the squad and said the new players already look at home at Chadwell Heath.
