West Ham United Women have signed Swiss international defender Nadine Riesen on a free transfer. The 26-year-old full-back joins the East Londoners after her contract with Eintracht Frankfurt expired.

What happened?

Riesen spent her early years playing in Switzerland with FC St. Gallen, BSC Young Boys, and FC Zürich, winning two Swiss league titles and a domestic cup.

She then joined Eintracht Frankfurt in 2023. On the international stage, Riesen has been capped by Switzerland 42 times, scoring two goals.

Why it matters for West Ham United Women

After joining West Ham United Women, Riesen said: “When I heard about West Ham’s interest in me, I was super-excited. It’s a huge club with a proud history and I’m very happy to be here.”

Riesen is West Ham United Women’s fourth signing of the summer.

What comes next?

Riesen will be looking to make an impact in the Women’s Super League, one of the best leagues in the world. She said: “I really like Rita’s ambition for the team. There is a lot of potential within this group and I hope that, together, we can achieve great things.”
